Events and Purchasing Director
Brenda has an extensive 30-year health care background, many of those years were capped off working as a top Surgical Technician at Eisenhower Medical Center a top 100 hospital. While there she works and leads teams in the General Orthopedic, Sports Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and Reconstructive procedures, which earned her a nomination for the Jackie Lee Houston Performance Excellence award. She also spent time teaching and training surgical students. She has many certifications including DCD Organ Procurement Certification. Brenda has also attended and passed all requirements and received her certification to Manage Assisted Living Facilities in the State of Maryland. In Brenda’s years in the medical field, she has also successfully managed two separate medical offices.
Brenda has been with the Mission since day one. She organizes volunteers and has operated and organized every major Mission event for 6 years. She has supervised and taken care of all health department requirements for The Mission. She also assists Richard Myers, the Executive Director in the day to day operation of The Mission.
When Brenda is not working at The Mission or In Surgery at the Surgical Center in Leonardtown, she is home with her Husband and 3 Black Labs.
Events & Purchasing Director
John is a veteran of the U.S Army who served in the 315 Meccanized Infantry Unit, stationed at Savannah Georgia. After his military service John studied at Independent Baptist Bible College, and at Reformer Unanimous Faith-Based Discipleship school for men. John’s passion is to help people gain victory over the strongholds of addiction. He is currently working toward his degree in Substance Abuse and works locally as a Project Manager for a building contractor.
Since 2017 John has led The Mission’s Substance Abuse outreach ministry, which entails mentoring, and building relationships with those suffering or recovering from various addictions. John is also part of many other areas of The Mission, in short, he’s the person every ministry needs who can be depended on to complete various tasks on short notice.
When John isn’t at The Mission, he’s spending time spoiling his two children Jordin and John.
Substance Abuse Outreach
Dayroom Director and Counselor
Jean received her BS in Social Work from George Mason/University of Maryland) in 2001 and holds certifications from the University of Maryland in Crisis Intervention and Life Coaching. Jean also earned her Maryland CAC-AD (substance Abuse Counselor in 2000)
Jean has been working within the Non-Profit field for 25 plus years working with Displaced Pre-adult youth, Adult Homeless, Domestic Violence, Operating Shelters and Transitional Housing as well as Supportive Housing for Homeless Persons with Disabilities in St. Mary’s County Maryland.
As the Client Services Manager for The Mission, Jean operates the Mission Day Room and does needs assessments, counseling, referrals, advocacy and assists with obtaining employment. She works closely with Robert Myers in the areas of Ministry as well. Jean attends The Mission Church.
Jean previously served on the Department of Social Services Child Abuse Review Board, St. Mary’s County Alcohol Alliance Board and the Domestic Violence Board for the Family Advocacy Center, she currently has joined the Tri-County Youth Services Partnership for Homeless Youth age 18-25.
When not at The Mission Jean enjoys spending time with her grandchildren attending their sports activities and dance competitions. She loves animals and has 4 dogs she rescued that are her babies.
