Donate
The Mission is funded by donations from the local community. These generous contributions keep The
Mission’s doors open 365 days a year.
Your financial support pays for the following:
- Operational expenses for The Mission’s shelter (The Steve L. Kessler Center), which is temporary housing for up to 24 guests who are working towards being self-sufficient.
- Funding for clothing, food and other items for people in need.
- The salary of The Mission’s one employee – our intake coordinator, who has been a big part of The Mission for many years and doesn’t ask for much.
- Renovation of The Mission’s new building (The Robert E. Myers Center), which will house the day room, chapel, counseling offices, executive offices, training rooms, food pantry and shower facilities as well as other regional and local ministries.
Legacy Planning
Another way to help provide for The Mission and St. Mary’s County’s homeless and working poor is through legacy giving, by providing for The Mission in your will, either through a gift of money or property.

The Mission receives many generous food and material item donations each year. This helps provide not only food but also other tangible items necessary for our guests and those in our local community who can’t afford higher-priced items. Below is a list of Items which we accept.
Larger Items
The Mission from time to time gives furniture, appliances and other more expensive items to guests or clients who have a place to live but no money for these items. We typically take directly from the donor and give to the recipients. This also include vehicles. We have seen lives changed by giving someone independent transportation.
- Furniture (serviceable only)
- Appliances
- Vehicles (good working order only or light maintenance required)
Please call or email The Mission if you have something in this category.
The Mission leadership, staff and volunteers would like to give a huge Thank You for all those who provide the thousands of items which keep The Mission ministry operating and supply many who come though our doors the support they need.
