OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Robert received an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) and BS in Business Administration from Regis University. Robert is a 20-year veteran serving in both the United States Marines & US Airforce. Robert has for the past 16 years working as a Senior Contracts Specialist, procuring major weapon systems, and engineering services for the Navy.
Robert has been in the Missions field and leading various ministries for 34 years. He led outreach activities on Tustin Maine Corps Air Station. Supported overseas pastors during his numerous monthly visits to the Philippines. Supported Lead Chaplain’s on the USS New Orleans and USS Peleliu this included Preaching & Evangelism activities. Robert over a 3-year period led an Evangelistic Ministry which consisted of Cross Walking a 12’ Cross all over St. Mary’s County and Washington D.C.
As one of the Founders of the Mission, he has implemented a 13-week Bible foundations course required by all volunteers at the Mission. For the last 1.5 years, Robert has led The Mission’s church, which is mainly made up of local homeless and the working poor of St. Mary’s County.
When Robert isn’t ministering at the Mission or working he’s home with his wife Melinda and their dog.
Richard received a BS in Business Management and AS in Education from Colorado Technical University. Richard’s career started as a U.S Marine working as an electrician on A-6 and F-18 aircraft. His career has been divided and he has spent over 20 years in Aerospace, with both Boeing and McDonnell Douglas working on multiple development programs and flight test on various aircraft. Richard spent 8 years in the private sector running and operating his own successful business. He has spent the last 6 years working for the Defense Department, writing Major Weapon System contracts, specializing, currently in Unmanned Aircraft and Super Sonic Targets.
As one of the founders of The Mission, Richard for the last 6 years has held the responsibilities that encompass all aspects of The Mission including operations and funding.
When Richard isn’t managing The Mission or counseling the needy in our community, he is at home in Leonardtown with his wife Brenda and their three black labs. They attend and are very active members of Faith Bible Church.
Daniel received a BS in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University. He started as an Accountant for Dairy Farmers of America and is currently with Seakeeper Inc. managing the financial needs of foreign entities. Daniel has been managing the financial needs for The Mission since Oct 2017.
Daniel has been involved with various ministries including youth and kids’ ministries with the churches he has attended. He currently serves on the Worship Team at Living Word Community Church. He met his wife, Abigail, at Chi Alpha at Penn State where they both served on the group’s Worship Team.
When not working, Daniel enjoys playing board games, card games, and sports, such as volleyball, basketball, football, etc. and just relaxing at home.
John earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He has worked as a civil servant for the past 32 years at the Naval Air Development Center, now the Naval Air Warfare Center at Patuxent River, MD.
John served in both Latin America and Europe as a short term missionary. He met his wife Tita in England while working with Operation Mobilization among Asian immigrants and later went on to work with church planting teams in Spain and with Muslims in Philadelphia.
John has been a board member of the King’s Christian Academy since 2002 and has served as board Chairman, board Secretary, and chairman of the Transportation Committee. He currently serves as an Elder at Faith Bible Church in Mechanicsville, MD. John and Tita host a Small Group Bible Study in their home each Wednesday evening.
John and Tita have three children, Daniel, Maija, and Heidi
Mark received a BA in English Literature from Salisbury State University. Mark is one of the three founders of The Mission and his passion is evangelism.
Mark’s writings cultivated his first book “Calling All Catholics” in December 2009. However, he attributes His most valuable educational training to the Holy Spirit whereby he has been in training for the past 36 years!!!
Mark grew up working in restaurants since the age of ten in Ocean City MD. After college Mark went to work in the automotive industry, of which he grew up. His grandfather Lewie Aldridge Sr. started Aldridge Ford in St Mary’s MD and Mark continues in the family tradition, working at Pohanka Automotive Group for the past 20 years and running his own automotive sales business, Aldridge Auto Sales. Mark’s mission statement is Mark 12:31 “You must love others as yourself”.
For the past 24 years Mark has been serving the Lord in St Mary’s and aboard, he has been on Missionary activities in Hawaii, Haiti, and India. He has traveled across the USA proclaiming the Gospel wherever he goes!!! He enjoys surfing and golfing. He has four children Isabella, Ian, Noah, and Soraya.
Barbara Svenson, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, has lived in Southern Maryland for nearly 45 years. Barbara has a degree in Hearing and Speech Science from the University of Maryland. Her first professional endeavor was running a breeding and training facility for Hanoverian horses in Charles County. From there she moved into the real estate specializing in both residential and commercial real estate.
Barbara attends Trinity Episcopal Church in St Mary’s City and is the full-time organist. She has always felt a strong calling to become involved with community outreach efforts. Through her real estate and church activities she met and ministered to many homeless and/or people living in poverty.
Over the years Barb’s journey with the homeless has involved finding housing, providing food and clothing (including going to campsites), being a mentor and friend. Barbara’s strong belief is that people can “do better” when given a healthy support system, which includes a strong biblical presence and Christ-centered teachings. She continues to personally mentor and help individuals and families who are in need.
Barbara currently teaches a financial literacy class for The Mission at St Mary’s County Department of Social Services, which The Mission developed specifically for those in need in St. Mary’s County. In addition to teaching these classes, Barbara is actively involved with the day-to-day operations of The Mission and is currently serving as the Secretary of the County’s Homeless Prevention Board.
